The layouts and designs of what we take in as readers means a great deal. This by far was overall a great concept as well as a good way to publicize the sales of both artists, 50 Cent and Kanye West. Another thing to notice is the size of this magazine. This was one of the last of its sizes that Rolling Stone magazine produced.
Remember when you were unable to simply fold your magazine and slide it in your pockets, or ladies when it was becoming a bit of a hassle to simply slide your favorite fashion guide in your handbag? This appeared on shelves September 20, 2007. Both 50 Cent and Kanye West were releasing albums on the same day. The end result, they both went to sell more than one million copies, but 50 Cent stated, “I’ll quit if Kanye West outsells me,” Mr. West did that first week but, 50 Cent continued but later went on to pursue more acting.
The size of magazines varies with genre and subject matter these days. But gaining the attention of readers these days, something needs to captivate the eye, maybe size, maybe layout and maybe who is on the cover. They all play a part in the purchase.
